Saturday, March 3, 2007:  New REGION 5 Website for promotion of Region wide Racing Circuits

On behalf of Eric Gregory of San Antonio, Texas, I would like to take this moment to announce the release of a new WEBSITE called  www.R5Racing.com . This site has been in the development stage for almost a year now but with the addition of a new baby skipper in the house, the release of the site was postponed for further tweaking. This new sight will be a supplement to all current Club’s sites. It will also be an additional site for further advertising of any upcoming listed Class Regattas within AMYA’s Region 5 area. With the sole purpose of providing web links back to your Club’s website, it will also serve as direct link for anyone to navigate to any of the listed Class sites and resources. It can also serve as a minimal website for Clubs that currently do not have it’s own established website as a means to advertise any up coming events of any of the Classes listed, limited to Notices of Race (NOR). The success of this site will be totally contingent on the participation of the Club’s Commodores, Members, and Regatta Organizers to submit their relevant information and Club’s website links, via e-mail to Eric Gregory (Webmaster). Any Regatta may be advertised either by linking back to your Club’s website or specific NOR, limited to AMYA’s Classes. It can also be used as an additional site for posting links for Stories & Results after an event.

This site should benefit all Region 5 Clubs by getting the word out of their Existence, Locations, Classes Primarily Raced in that club, Yahoo Groups, Contacts, and Club’s websites. Anyone visiting this site from out of Region 5 should be able to obtain all information needed on the activities of Established and/or Up and Coming Racing Circuits. Currently established Region 5 wide  Racing Circuits consist of Victoria, Internationals One Meter (IOM), Star 45, and Seawind with regattas held annually in most major cities. But this site can/will help other Classes promote and established a possible Racing circuit of their own through it’s own due diligence and the use of this site.

The R5Racing.com site will also have an Advisory Committee consisting of individuals from major cities throughout the Region 5. This committee will be available to review any ideas, suggestions, or comments submitted by anyone through the year. Please feel free to participate by going to the link and submitting ideas and comments, as well as your links. The Moderator of this site will only maintain this site and not necessarily go searching for your Club’s information. Please also understand that this is “work in progress”, ever changing type site. So if something is missing please let the Webmaster(Eric) know. With your help, this is the only way to keep your information current and up to date.  

So please help us spread the word on this great new site that Mr. Gregory has established by sending this link and website address,  www.R5Racing.com  to everyone you can think of and your Club’s website.
